Being healthy in every way in today’s scenario is challenging. Every other person is suffering from at least one or two diseases which is a matter of concern, which is why deaths are happening. Irregular sleeping schedule, less or no time for exercise, bad eating habits, smoking at a very young age is like calling death. India is witnessing a destructive wave of corona which, leads to numerous death that causes a spot of bothering for all of us. According to a source, from February to July 2020, total cases of 391,000 of covid-19 were reported by 47 districts of the U.S of which, 8% of cases were coming up from people less than 21 years old.
Apart from COVID-19, cancer is one of the threats to our human civilization that takes lives like anything. Besides physical health, mental health has to pull everyone’s concern over it. Depression, anxiety is one of the most common mental disorder. According to accurate numbers, around 56 million are suffering from depression and, another 38 million are suffering from an anxiety disorder. Depression is most common among people 18 to 25 years old( about 10.9%). Many of these psychological problems affect our physical health that leads to death, vice versa.
All these activities decrease the life expectancy of a human. The life expectancy for males is 75 years and, for females, is 80 years. Now, the question is, we have seen our great grandparents and even grandparents hitting centuries. But, hitting centuries in today’s scenario is a tough row to hoe. Now, living for 100 years happens for less than 2 out of 10,000 people in the united states. It is the quality that matters not, the quantity. An individual should have good food intake, a pollution-free environment, a workout and, a stress-free mind that helps in stretching to 100. Many of us want to live long but, it also depends on how we want to live. We either want to be bedridden and not care for ourselves or being healthy. The one thing that matters the most is our lifestyle. When asked, people of 5 distinct regions of the world seem to answer that a lifestyle.
Shifting into a normal life
We, humans, are always unsatisfied with everything. We always think about more money, on our looks, on our performances in day-to-life, our fitness and gym memberships. We look more at worldly things rather than normal ones. All this leads to putting more pressure on us. People living in these blue zones don’t focus on these grasp things however, they focus more on natural life. It leads them to live more freely. Their lifestyle pushes them towards herding goats, hiking mountains, Farming that gives them vegetables and, moving throughout the day that keeps them connected to the environment. This type of lifestyle is far better than sitting in one place for 12-14 hours and taking stress after doing 1 hour of workouts.
Making up a purpose of life
Many of us till now don’t know the purpose of our life. It is also somewhere an obstacle for us to hit centuries. We are just in a hurry to prove ourselves to others. We don’t focus on growth, achievements that we are all lacking. Citizens of the blue zone refrain from doing this. They know the reason for their waking up in the morning. They have a purpose and, they are enjoying it without any stress. Furthermore, they don’t have to prove themselves to anyone. Having a purpose that why are you living adds up the chances to live longer.
More smiling, less stress
There is a quote by Steve Maraboli that says, “You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” Stress affects our immune system, resulting in bad health. There is no place on the globe where tension is not present, but people living in blue zones know how to deal with this before, it could harm their health. Taking some time for yourself and small naps from work helps to overcome this issue.
Healthy food is the first form of wealth
In today’s where everything is so rush-hush, people usually have an irregular schedule of eating meals. Many people skip their breakfast which is the crucial meal of the day and, usually go for late-night snacks which, are not good for their health, Eating after midnight results in a higher level of glucose, cholesterol. People living in blue zones have their smallest meal in the evening, and stop eating when they feel 80 percent full. Blue zone people eat meat only about five times a month to meet their protein level. Also, eating more beans like lentils, black beans will provide more nutritional value to keep up longevity.
Family is family
In everyone’s life, their family should be their topmost priority. No matter how busy we are in fulfilling our ambitions, dreams we should not forget to spend time with our family. Blue zone people keep their communities close to them and, mainly make their decision based on the generation of the family. They invest more in their children and have one life partner, which can add up to three years of life.
