The farmers’ market, which happens each Wednesday morning at Sheraton Waikiki, takes sustainable menus and farm-to-table to another level. The menu at the hotel restaurant, Kai, changes constantly depending on what’s fresh at the market the farmers have. Bonus: In-house guests can pop down to the Wednesday market and get a cup of fresh-brewed Kona coffee, sample chocolate from home-grown cacao, pickup some island-made crafts for gift giving and of course, lots of fresh fruit to take back to their room for snacking.

    Several places similar to this have been popping up around here as well. I think it’s wonderful. One place in particular is a fab find for deviled eggs and beer. (A strange combo but really….fabulous!) I am starting to seek out eateries that set out to use local, organic produce and meat. It’s nice to feel like you are supporting local business and to feel like you are supporting local farmers too!
