My house has a routine for everything. We have different hours allocated for different events. Every morning 6:00 am is when we wake up to pray. There is a large alarm clock that always wakes everyone. The kids get to freshen up while I get to prepare their meals on school days.
Similarly, we have times we have tagged, “family playtime.” Everyone loves family playtime because it is always exciting and fun for all. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights are our family playtime. We have a series of events we do together to occupy the day.
Friday is for DIY with the kids. It depends on the suggestion of my husband or kids. We once had a baking DIY which I did not win because I was the judge. Other times, we build castles, do some paintings, and have much more fun. Either or both of the kids become the eventual winner(s) – the aim is to encourage them to always do better.
Saturdays are for outdoor events. We can choose to use the cinema or any fun factory around for our Saturday family playtime. On a few occasions that we could not go out, we had an outdoor in our compound. We had the popular search and find games with the kids. This lasted for hours before everywhere became dark.
Once it is 2 hours before the time, I always begin to make the family’s favorite dessert. As a mom, I want them to enjoy every bit of their playtime. So, I take my time to ensure the spring rolls are deliciously made. This works on a Sunday right before we see our favorite videos that a friend sent to us. The videos always crack up.
