Our friend Hannah was wearing this wide sailor bracelet a couple of weeks ago. So we (Pilar and I) decided to get the same ones, joking that it would be our “friendship bracelet”. So now all of our friends (and my daughter) want the same one.
I think it stands out compared to the regular knot bracelets because the width makes it feel different–less collegiate and bolder
Why you need a friendship bracelet:
- It’s symbolic
Any bracelet can be named a friendship bracelet. What matters is what it stands for, which is a beautiful and thriving friendship.
- It’s unique
Friendship bracelets are unique from other regular bracelets. You can DIY from scratch using anything personal to you and your BFF.
- No age restriction
Anyone can wear friendship bracelets. While they are more common amongst the teenage community, the much younger and older generation can jump on the trend too. Everyone is welcomed to the party.
- It’s historical
Friendship bracelets date way back many years ago, even though they now enjoy a much more modern resurgence. They were also popular amongst some ancient traditions and cultures.
At $10 a pop, you can also buy one of the wide sailor bracelets for your BFF. They come in a solid black, tan, and some lovely two tones from Mystic Knotwork, who makes them in Connecticut and are the nicest family. (We did a story on them in Martha, and Hannah is the one who told us so!)
The small ones sell for less than $5 and will make a lovely goody bag present.
Trust me when I say this bracelet will communicate your love to your BFF like never before, strengthen your friendship and bring you guys closer than ever.
