Ilana Anger is the owner of Little lief. That name is one of the cutest names I have ever heard for a fashion brand. Ilana is a happy soul and one of the loveliest people you can and want to be around. She is a great mom and a design expert.
Ilana is born in Australia. However, she grew up in New York City and her family is settled there as well. Her open spirit is second to none. She has ethical fashion trends appropriate for children. Also, she raised her children who are students of Brooklyn Waldorf School in a great academic setting.
Being a mom has not been an easy ride with running Little lief for Ilana but as a mother, giving up has never been an option. At her early stages of Little lief, it was tough to combine it with her motherly roles, yet she was available. This is impressive because life does not always mean a smooth sail.
Here is an interview with her. Follow closely.
“Now that I am a mum getting dressed needs to be easy. I typically mix up vintage and basic cotton pieces. I like dresses and rompers because it’s an outfit in one and you don’t need to mix and match (although I was wearing a top and skirt on the day we met, which is unusual).
I was wearing NDC sandals and a vintage skirt which has 2 labels one of 45rpm and the other from the Universal Studios Entertainment Costume Department. I think the skirt was altered with paint and shredded. I love it! The t-shirt is from American Apparel.
I am originally from Australia but have lived in NYC since 2000. Before Little Lief I worked as a design director (HarperCollins) on illustrated books (from pop culture to art and architecture). My first summer together with my daughter (Lief) in NYC was a hot one. I couldn’t find simple, easy, and super lightweight cotton pieces to dress her in (that wasn’t onsies) so I decided to make them.”
Editor’s note: That’s a skirt from Little Lief in the background!
