YouTube is one of the most popular and visited sites on the internet. It is a service where you can host, store and share all kinds of files in video format for free, on different topics, dedicated to different tastes and interests.
There are short videos (of a few seconds), there are tutorials, help guides, professional or amateur music videos, documentaries, films, movie trailers, and productions of all kinds.
Google, the owners of YouTube, makes it easy for the creators of these videos to earn income.
Before trying to make money with YouTube
To start earning videos and earning income from YouTube, we cannot start from scratch.
Before requesting approval to participate in the YouTube Partner Program, we must do the following:
– Have an active YouTube channel, in which we have previously uploaded some videos (at least 6), we have actively shared them and obtained views.
– Have several subscribers, for that you can insert the subscribe button on your blog or website or promote it on social networks.
Contrary to what many people think, you don’t need to be a famous YouTuber, a successful artist, or a company with a video production studio, to be able to make money on YouTube.
Many of the videos that make the most money for their creators have been recorded with simple cell phones, by people who had no idea that what they were uploading would become popular. Many of us have watched videos with poor audio and questionable quality, which have millions of views.
If we analyze them there is always a common factor: they are original and unique videos, the vast majority on the subject of humor.
Did you hear about the last YouTuber who is swimming in money while making videos telling jokes or traveling the world, and you dream of doing the same? I do not know if you can become a millionaire, but with what I am going to tell you, I am sure that you can generate more than interesting income with YouTube.
Advertising, No Thanks!
This is the way everyone knows to make money on YouTube. Basically, you upload a video, activate ad monetization, and after a while, you get a check for all the people who clicked on the ads they saw on your videos.
It sounds like a very good alternative since just by generating videos, the money will enter your checking account, but I’m sorry to tell you that not all that glitters is gold. In order for you to be able to generate a decent income, you must have several hundred thousand views,, and that is not easy at all.
Ahh, it turns out that Luisito Comunica travels the world and is paid for his YouTube videos, ahh, but German Garmendia uploads funny things and has even written a book. Yes, it is true, there are cases like these, but they are exceptions, with some viral videos and that based on talent, a lot of work, and a little luck, they got it (but luckily, we don’t have all of them)
In general, you and I are ordinary people. I monetized some videos of my channel for 3 years, and I did not earn a single dollar in all that time for advertising, so I am not telling you that you cannot make money with this method, but it requires patience, work, and a long time.
Talking about other people
An intermediate option is to work based on sponsorships or references. Suppose I have a channel in which I make video reactions of football matches. I could, before the videos, recommend that you use a certain application with match statistics, goal videos, etc. The agreement would mean a percentage of money for each download of the app from the link on your channel, etc.
Another possibility would be to make a product review of each video. It is like what influencers do on Instagram when they recommend a hotel or restaurant in exchange for having spent the night there or had a free dinner. Suppose I have a channel dedicated to podcasting. I could review microphones, recording studios, and even applications, doing use tests and recommending the purchase, taking a commission for each sale achieved.
What I do not like about this alternative is that it takes away your objectivity a bit, and you must know how to maintain that demarcated space very well, since if you recommend a product only for the fact of earning a commission and not being objective with its quality, you could see yourself involved in the complaints of people whose expectations were not met with the product.
You and only you on YouTube
And we come to my favorite content as always. I know that one usually devalues the things one does and thinks that there are others who can do it better, and it is true, there will always be people who know more and others who know less than you.
On the other hand, you are unique, and you can do things in a way that no one else can. This is not simply about knowledge. It also has to do with the value that you can add to it. Do you think I’m the only one who talks about these issues on the internet? Of course not! The network is full of people who do the same as me, but here you are, for some reason, reading my blog or listening to my podcast.
I already told you before how I generated 1,200 dollars with YouTube using this technique, and I am sure that you can do that and more. What things are you good at? What content are you passionate about? If you have doubts about this, I think it would be good if you read my guide to generate at least 5 business ideas today.
At Last
Thank you very much, as always, for commenting at the end of each article or the publications on social networks. Thank you also for writing to me, listening to the podcast of entrepreneurs online, following me on Facebook or Instagram, and subscribing to the news list. Thank you also for sharing this content and thus helping other entrepreneurs so that they can publicize their work using the internet.
We read each other. I write to my fellow travelers when I post new content and share some special materials with them.
