New skincare products arise regularly. It’s a victory on most nights if you can wash your face, but if you want to raise your skincare level, you’ll need to learn about many products so you can figure out which one is perfect for you. Here the difference between essence, toner, and serum are explained thoroughly.
Understanding The Difference
Although these products have many similarities yet they are different. These are executed in the following order – first, you use an essence/ toner, then a serum, and lastly, apply the moisturizer.
Toner helps by eliminating any lingering residues of product or pollutants from your skin and resetting your skin’s pH levels. The normal pH of your skin is between 4.7 and 5.75. Because some cleansers have pH values as high as 7, you must use a toner to restore your skin’s pH balance.
Process of applying
Apply it gently on your skin using a cotton pad. Also, you can use your fingertips to tap it slowly on your skin.
Note – Either you can apply it in the morning or evening.
The essence essentially prepares your skin for the items after it for deeper penetration. They contain significant active substances, allowing your skin to receive all subsequent treatments more effectively. Essence, a powerful formula, eliminates fine lines, wrinkles, and dull skin tones. An essence’s constancy varies from one product to the next. Some are watery, while others are slightly sticky.
Process of applying
Use your fingertip to tap on the product so that it gets deep in your skin.
Note – Either you can apply it in the morning or evening but only after you have used toner. Also, never use it before applying serum.
What’s next after you’ve cleansed, toned, and put essence? The next step is to put your serums to work. Although it’s not mandatory, most people advise applying over three serums in a single skincare routine. Most serums come with a dropper and give a high amount of the product’s unique components to the skin. In the article on Skincare Routines for Beginners, I have explained more about my favourite serums and how I apply them.
Knowing the process
Let the product get soaked into your skin by gently massaging it using your fingertips.
Note: you can apply it in the morning as well as in the evening
Should I use Toner, Essence and Serum?
If you genuinely want to use all of these items, pick items only based on their active components. Choose the best ones as per your requirement and proceed from there. It’s great to do everything, but it won’t make a difference if you’re not consistent and committed to your regimen. A few years ago, the glass skin trend was all over, and few ladies could regularly achieve or even continue the 10-step skincare routine. So don’t put yourself under that type of stress.
Ways to Use Toner, Essence and Serum in Your Skincare Routine?
The general rule is to start with the lightest items and work your way up to the heaviest. As a result, use your toner immediately after washing your face. It provides the necessary hydration, and the components do not have to fight anything else. After that, you put your essence on. It improves the hydration and moisturization of your skin in particular. Furthermore, essences prepare the skin to accept all of the following components. So, follow your essence with that serum filled with active ingredients and conclude with a moisturizer to lock it all in.
Are Serum and Moisturizer both necessary?
Serums do not obstruct treatments and stop water loss via the epidermis. If you do not moisturize correctly, your serums will not affect your skin. Without a moisturizing regimen, your skin will not be in good health. But moisturizers come in various types, so select the one that better suits your skin type.
Conclusion on Essence Vs. Toner Vs. Serum
Every skin product is different, and it’s necessary to read the ingredients list before buying a skincare product. Because your skin is extra, you’ll need a different formula, so don’t add too many new components all at once.
