We love having celebrities because sometimes they set the pace in beauty, fashion, and style for us to follow. This is even more needed when we share the same qualities with certain elites like facial shape, eye color, hair type, height, body size, and type.
One thing I look forward to in celebs is their haircuts and hairstyles. I have six-year-old twin boys. One wants a shorter cut, and the other prefers longer hair. Unfortunately, they both have had horrendous haircuts, the most notable includes:
- The family cut: this is when more than one family member tries to give you a haircut; this happened to my boys at 2 when Grandma and I tried cutting their hair while they watched Elmo and ate pizza. It was NOT a good idea.
- The old-school classic: the go-to for any straight-up barbershop in Manhattan – very cheap – but they used gel and a hairdryer on my four-year-olds.
- The park slope special: I have fallen into this several times. Easy haircut, but your kid will walk out with the same haircut as every other 3, 4, 5-year-old boy in the neighborhood.
This brings me to Bruce Weber. Years as a photo editor have led me to resort to Bruce once again for inspiration. Bruce’s website is incredible to look at for photography alone. But, little does he know that he has inspired haircuts for certain twin boys in Brooklyn. I now bring reference images to their haircuts, and it has made all the difference.
My twin boys have found their niches and are doing well sticking with them. Max prefers the classic Abercrombie & Fitch cut, while Emmett prefers the shaggier surfer look. The days of terrible haircuts are over, and it’s all thanks to Bruce Weber.
