A snow day is always a fun day. The weather is cool, the streets, and rooftops turn white, and kids in the park make snow angels and snowman figures. It’s also the perfect excuse for making bonfires and roasting marshmallows or if you’re an indoor person, just sit by the fireplace and enjoy a cup of hot cappuccino.
The kids are also fans of snow days especially when it’s a no-school day, (well, we’ve all been guilty of this pleasure at some point). But sometimes, the snow day becomes a snow week or snow month! And when you’re stuck home that long, boredom sets in. Oh boy!
Well, good thing the whole family is stuck together with each other, so there are fun ways of solving the issue of boredom like playing charades, Monopoly, or some friendly extended family quizzes.
For example, after a few house-bound snow days over a couple of weeks, we were looking for ways to entertain ourselves when our older son brought up the idea of us playing “Room Service.”
Just like the name suggested, we (the parents) were meant to deliver pancakes and smoothies to them in the living room pretending to be room service attending to guests at a hotel. As funny as it sounded, it was a great idea to loosen up and forget about being stuck all day while making the most of family time.
Just as long as the kids know they’ll be doing the dishes afterward. I mean they don’t expect room service to be free, no? (we won’t tell them the right way not to ruin the moment). It was a great experience and a fun one too. Later that evening, the boys were back to playing snow call of duty in the backyard.
