Recently we ran into Jenny Cooper (creative director of Crewcuts!) and her family at the airport, or rather, we spotted their awesome bright and cheery luggage, and then looked up to see who the owners were!! We loved the colorful yet totally utilitarian look, and she let us grill her on the details. They are made by Hideo Wakamatsu, and what you see Jenny’s family with is as follows: the rollie that can go onboard is $169, the 25 inch rollie that you would have to check is on sale now for $209, and the waterproof rollie (in red above) that can be cinched smaller or grow bigger, is also $209. I swear just seeing such great colors made us all a little happier! Well actually, it’s the best to run into friends at the airport!

If you’re at all in the market for new luggage, may I suggest that you spring for a rollie with 4 wheels, as these all are. I have a rollie that has only 2 wheels, and it’s such a drag, because I have to pull it along (you can actually push a 4 wheeler) and it strains the shoulder (if you’re running from terminal to terminal!) and it also topples over easily. I have to say that I wanted to chuck my black 2-wheeler immediately after I saw them.

P.S. The two aluminum rollies are from the German company Rimowa—they are sturdy, come with a lifetime guarantee, and look very Mr. Bond.

Absolutely fabulous! I love the bright colors and the hard shells! My 2 boys are in need of replacements for their backpack wheelies, and I think I’ll have to give these a try. I love that they’re very Rimowa-like, but without the price tag. Save those for Mom & Dad. . .
