water park

Last month, my husband and I were itching to travel somewhere with the kids. But – naturally – we hadn’t made any sort of game plan. And given this never-ending winter, we preferred the instant gratification route, if at all possible. Our goals: somewhere catered to families and somewhere needing little to no planning. Enter Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park in Wisconsin Dells. Our friends recommended it, but I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. But then we arrived, and all hesitation went out the window. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend – for everyone! The resort offers a variety of rooms, including larger suites called ‘condos’. We opted to share one of these with our close friends, who have two little ones like we do. The condo setup was perfect for our two families – they have two large guest rooms adjoined by a living room and full kitchen. One of my favorite perks was having the kitchen, which meant we could make snacks and small meals for the kiddos while taking breaks from the water park. The actual water park offers different rooms to explore and zero-depth pools for the littles. The entire space is clean and airy, with large windows and vaulted ceilings. Ample lifeguards take their jobs uber-seriously too, which definitely helped put us at ease. And we easily ordered food and drinks – even a beer or two! – without leaving the water park. The only downside? Our three-year-old keeps asking when we are going back! It was seriously the perfect way to beat our winter blues.

Have you been to other easy winter places? I’d love to hear your tips and thoughts.
