A friend of mine just turned me on to this book, The Parents We Mean to Be. This sentence on the author’s site made me buy it immediately: “The widespread desire of parents to be closer to their children—a heartening trend in many ways—and their intense focus on their children’s happiness and achievements can turn children into self-involved…, fragile conformists.” I’m always trying to figure out the balance of too much or too little involvement.
