I recently watched the 60-Minutes Sports segment on Lionel Messi, who is essentially the Michael Jordan of soccer. For so many of our kids who live and breathe soccer, he is the best role model we could ever hope for. In addition to being the finest soccer player of all time (the words “physical genius” and “Messi-anic” come to mind as you watch this 5’5″ forward plow his way through three defenders as though they aren’t even there to score a seemingly impossible goal), he has a rare humility that you wish you could bottle. I watched my two young boys as they watched him in awe defer the limelight, giving all of the credit to his teammates. This is the moment when you step aside as a parent and defer to our real live superheroes.
