water collector

We were in Richmond, VA this week, and went to an amazing grocery story called Ellwood Thompson’s. We weren’t even out of the parking lot when we saw their rainwater collecting drum (above), and then the recycling area that even collects corks. Once inside, besides being super impressed with their selection in the food and wine departments (side note–Virginia white wines are super impressive–we picked up some up here to bring home), we loved that they have a community room, and tinctures in bulk. And that’s just what we caught at first glance. Upon looking at their website, we learned that they also use solar energy, compost, and reward customers who walk or bike to the store.

My favorite store is in Northern Virginia. It is called MoM Organics. Very eco friendly and has electric car chargers among other initiatives.
