Our friend Emma did this for her daughter’s birthday, and we think it’s super clever. Rather than using plastic cups, she used wide mouth jars, and then used bright-colored duct tape as the name labels. Correction–she used brightly colored stickers and wishes she used duct tape, because the stickers were not easy to peel/wash off.

For my daughter Penelope’s 7th birthday she chose a French theme. For decorations, we painted long strips of paper blue, white and red and made French flag banners. We saw these at an office birthday party the other day and thought they were copying: Blueberries for eyes, sliced strawberry for an “Oh no Mr. Bill” mouth. This will work on little kids, before they start coveting crazy sprinkles. Apply to any basic cupcake recipe.
