We found ourselves in JCPenney over the break, and we surprised to see how many cute (and cheap) things they had in their girls department. Jeans in colors reminiscent of Rag&Bone (regular price $18, many on sale for $12), t-shirts with a little Isabel Marant vibe (on sale for $5), and snow outfits that were basic and well priced (bibs on sale for $13).

I just had the same experience. my mom bought us a bunch of clothes from JCP for Xmas for my 6 month old daughter. we had to exchange for smaller sizes and I was impressed with their selection of cute and affordable clothes for girls.
I also recently had good luck there for boys. I had not been in a jcp for years but was walking in one on Black Friday. What I loved was their young man shoes. My 11 year old now is in a small man shoe size. Those are hard to,find and very very expensive for growing boy feet. Jcp had some good prices on stylish shoes and carried the size 6-7 men’s/big boys that is hard to find. Really had a jcrew men’s vibe.
JCP is my little secret too and the clothes stand up to lots of washings -
This is the cardigan my daughter has worn a thousand times — nine bucks!
