red deck shoes

We have had multiple friends ask us what they should wear in the summer…something good for traveling. I always say a Birkenstock, but some people just want a closed toe. The issues that have been presented include “I need something good for a short hike, going on the airplane, hoofing it around a town, something that looks good with a dress and jeans.” Well, do you have any suggestions? I think a Clark Wallabee is good, or a Clark desert boot, and I’m also a fan of the Sperry Docksider, especially in red or gold!

I was in J Crew yesterday and they had some of their colors of docksiders on sale. I think all their sale is an extra 40% off now. Some really great deals. My sister bought a beautiful pair of gold gladiator sandals at J Crew for $30 or something.

I really like an espadrille. My surprising favorite is from Old Navy. I bought mine on clearance last summer and they have been wet and to the beach many times but have held up well. Very comfortable for walking in the city as well.

Merrell’s barefoot line are my favorite travel shoes! They are super lightweight and fit really well into a suitcase. The loafer style – “Spice Glove” is a great shoe and more comfortable then my Sperry’s and far lighter! Their ballet flats are awesome! Highly recommend them – my “Delight glove” ballet flats have been to sixteen countries with me – they are still super comfortable!
