One of my boys got this as a birthday present recently and now I want to give it to every kid I know. Papertoy Monsters is a encyclopedia of monsters (a combination that ranges from manga- to traditional fairy tale-inspired) that you pop out along perforated lines and turn into 3-D figures with various folds and glue. My 8-year-old loves this book, as does my 6-year-old. I would caution, however, that the projects do require a deft hand. Even my crafty 8-year-old needs a little help with extracting the templates along perforated lines and with some of the finer folds. That said, even if you don’t make any of the monsters, great illustrations are accompanied by a great read. And, not for nothing, you can get it for as little as $10, which is pretty amazing, considering how thick the book is.
