Peel’s on Bowery and 2nd in NYC does nice riffs on southern themes, such as these grits with sauteed shrimp and fried (or over easy) eggs. I tried it at home, though skewed more Italian than southern–sauteed garlic, olive oil and fresh tomatoes and over easy eggs over polenta. Delicious. Good for breakfast, lunch, or bottom of the barrel dinner. You always have a clove of garlic and canned tomatoes because of their juice, work beautifully.
