We get so excited when we find a not dumbed-down kids menu. How is it that a restaurant that serves wild caught fish, locally raised chickens, and organic greens, can have a kids menu with commercial chicken fingers, pasta with butter, and overcooked broccoli? (And I’m not exaggerating–that is a true story, from a hotel restaurant in Northern California). I’m not saying that eating out needs to be an organic/local/sustainable night out with the kids–but come on, there are plenty of other options out there, as seen in some of these menus I snagged, or my friends brought back to me (I collect them). If there is a restaurant out there that does a clever kids menu, let us know…we’d love to hear about it!

    m street kitchen in santa monica always has lovely kids meals – they serve fresh berries as a side on items like a roasted vegetable quesadilla. really good stuff.
