My mother, an amazing cook would make these ribs when company came. I always thought it was too difficult to attempt.  But when my friends came to dinner I decided to give it a try!

Preheat oven to 460.


Whole jar of Hoisin sauce

2 tbs soy sauce

3 tbs  honey

3 tbs sesame oil

1/4 cup Scotch

2 tbs grated ginger

Mix coat ribs in sauce and reserve some for basting

Cook 15 min

20 min reduce to 375 for an hour 1/2

Every 15 min baste and turn. Keep a watchful eye so as not to burn.  Let it rest for 15 min and then cut between each rib.  You can garnish with chopped chives or scallions. Enjoy!

    I love this kind of ribs and have been looking for an easy recipe. Can I confirm, is it start oven at 450 F, bake ribs for 35 min, then reduce temperature to 375 and bake another 30 min? Basting and turning every 15 min? So, plan on about 1 hr cook time, first half at high temperature and then reducing heat? Can’t wait to try these- thanks!

      Hi Laurie,
      Make sure to preheat the oven at 460 not 450, cook ribs at this temperature for 15-20 minutes and then reduce temperature to 375. Bake another hour
      basting and turning every 15 minutes. Towards the end you want to make sure it doesn’t burn, so keep checking.
