There are many wonderful recipes out there if you’re looking to make a dessert free of gluten or allergens like eggs or dairy, but I hold a special place in my heart for Erin McKenna’s cookbooks. Erin is the founder of the popular vegan bakery BabyCakes NYC and her two cookbooks are decadent and fun. She makes baking without using certain ingredients feel like a celebration, not a deprivation.

There’s a new BabyCakes app out and the whole thing is adorable. It features recipes like Banana Chocolate Chip Teacake; guest appearances by Mark Bittman and Kiernan Shipka (aka Sally from Mad Men); and music from J Mascis, Bubbles, Cults, and Bleached.

If you already have the BabyCakes cookbooks, or are extremely lucky and live near one of the bakeries, maybe you don’t need this. Otherwise, it’s pretty hard to resist.
