There is nothing special about serving a hard- or soft- boiled egg for breakfast. In fact, there is nothing easier–you buy the 10 minutes that it takes to boil to pack lunches and get reluctant toes into socks. Adding an egg cup to the usual presentation makes breakfast feel “fancy,” as my son Henry likes to say. Same goes for using cloth napkins and real plates and glasses. But from the time they stopped throwing plates and cutlery from their high chair, I made a point of having them use real materials so that they would learn to respect them.

Ahhhh… I love the egg cups & my boys love eating from the ones I collected from Germany. Serving this way is purposeful, respectful & very Montessori inspired.
