Now that it’s August, we’re officially over the half-way mark of summer vacation. And I can’t believe that with all the great summer reading lists out there, I haven’t done one thing with our daughter in the reading, spelling, math world. Yikes. So I’m sending her off to the library this week, so we can make a last ditch effort, and I’m going to order this book, You Can Count On Monsters, that our friend Becky recommended. It’s so hard to get this totally math-phobic family excited about anything math, but this book looks like it could teach all of us. It’s written by a dad who is a math professor at Brown, and it seems so up our alley. If you want to read a really good review of it, check out this NPR piece on it.
