When I was growing up, we never had a slip n’ slide or a wading pool. My mom just pulled out our garden-variety sprinkler and turned it on. That one spun around and around in a circle, and I remember being entranced with skipping over the streams of water that were twirling underfoot.
For those of you living in hot climates year round—or in places like Minnesota, where we’re still having some Indian summer days (cheers to that), I highly recommend some after-school sprinkler action. On this particular playdate, Mia and a neighbor got caught up in a made-up game of “sprinkler fairies” as they ran in and out of the arc of water traveling across our front yard. They had the time of their lives.
