Entertaining Them

I’m always on the hunt for ways to distract little kids on a flight that don’t involve a device, and don’t involve hauling a backpack filled with books. I found this book at some junk shop a while back, and whenever we look at it, we 1. get such a kick out of it, and 2. wonder why nobody makes sweet silly books like this these days. The premise is that the whole book is cut in half and that you take the top part of the cow page and then read it with the bottom half of the giraffe page, etc. It’s vintage so you have to look for it on eBay or Etsy (I found a link here), or just keep your eyes out at library book sales! Besides plane travel and kids, it’s just a great book for the coffee table as well.

Best distraction ever on airplanes? Bandaids! Get a few boxes of colorful/character styles and let them stick them all over everything. They remove easily and provide for hours of fun. We have traveled with our two boys to Europe every summer since they were born (they are now 7 and 9) and this trick was a sure thing when they were little.
