My son got the best face paint job ever by a local NY artist at a Free Arts Kidsfest event, a great organization that provides creative arts programs to those in need. When my son stepped up, the artist said, “I paint what comes to me, I don’t ask the kids what they want.” I loved that. And off the chair my son came with the most appropriately fierce face imaginable. If you’ve ever had to do face-painting yourself (I stepped in at a party once when the facepainter didn’t show), it’s very liberating to move the features up so that the middle of the face becomes the wide open mouth and eyes move to the forehead! I’m going to keep this in mind whenever we’re in a Halloween costume bind. I’m dying to remember the name of this artist. Anyone know?
