Veronica, a mom from Las Vegas, sent us these pictures of the cake she made for her daughter Fiona’s 5th birthday. “I started with one decorating idea, but it didn’t work, so I made purple (her favourite colour) ruffles and added vintage ballerina candle holders that I had found at an antique store a few months before.”  Here is a link to her blog post about the birthday party.

She also sent us pictures from another cake she made, which is also beautiful. “Since my husband’s birthday is only a few days later, I made him this cake (that Fiona assumed was hers too).  I used a star tip and gumdrops on top and a trim on the bottom (I ran out of frosting!)

    andrea, i had never made a ruffle before i made that cake. i think they look hard but they are really not. try it!
