I’ve been looking for a big world map to hang in the play area of our basement, and found this fabric version at the Etsy shop MyBeardedPigeon. When it arrived all the way from Bellingen, NSW, Australia a few weeks ago, I was giddy — it was beautifully printed, and exactly the right size for a homasote bulletin board I already had. I gave it a good ironing and tacked it up, and my plan is to mark our travels with flag pins. Along the borders, I pinned up some vintage postcards of places that have meaning to our family. Hoping this inspires some wanderlust in the wee explorers.
Homasote Note: A bulletin board like this one requires a call to your local lumberyard. Ask to have homasote (cellulose based fiberboard) cut to your desired size; the two large boards I have cost less than $50 for the pair. I followed this online how-to for covering and hanging.
