At Home

The jig is up. I have run out of creative ways to rearrange the throw pillows on my couch so that you can’t see their ragged corners and stained covers. And so the search for at least one new pillow begins. My couch, rug and walls are neutral and I like the idea of a bright, abstract floral print to bring a little color into the space. My dream buy: a Josef Frank’s Aralia pillow from Just Scandinavian. I can’t quite justify the price tag ($190, including the insert) knowing that it would be pawed by two sets of banana hands. I think that this Marimekko Pieni Kierto pillow from the Marimekko Concept Store in NYC is the wiser choice—it’s pretty great and at around $30 (just the cover, no insert), I might just pick up an extra.

  1. In defense of spendy pillows, I recently splurged and bought an expensive pillow at Roomandboard.com and WOW what a difference! This pillow is so luxurious and squishy and comfy that I crave it like a blanky. I actually use it instead of just stacking it on a piece of furniture for show. But, you’re right, I scream WASH YOUR HANDS! Every time my kid comes in the room.
