At Home

A nice bed can be really expensive. We faked a fancy looking bed by creating an extra wide upholstered headboard and hanging it using picture frame hardware on the wall behind the bed. This one happens to be tufted, but doesn’t need to be. You can wrap a piece of plywood (6-feet by 2 1/2 feet) in foam and staple gun the fabric to the board. No sewing skills required. The idea, whether you do it yourself or send it to an upholsterer, is the same. It spans the width of a queen size Ikea bed as well as the side tables giving the illusion of a proper bed.
