At Home

I’ve started thinking that our almost 9 year old might love a bean bag for her birthday, and since she’s still at that age where her favorite color changes like the wind, I think denim might be the best bet. Here are what seemed to be the best options out there, but if I missed something, or if you have comments on any of them, please let me know. The prices I put down did not include shipping, were for the smallest size, and did not include any personalization.

Land of Nod: $99 for removable/washable cover and insert, but they are out of stock until mid-March. I’d say it’s worth the wait.

Company Kids: It’s the next best deal at $50 for the cover, and $89 for the insert.

Ahh! Products Bean Bag Chairs: Around $150, with removable/washable cover, but the best part on these is that there is a 10 year guarantee. They also have organic cotton options but those cost more.

The Bean Bag Chair Outlet: $150 and has removable/washable cover. Free shipping!

PB Teen: Just to give you a sense of how expensive they can go…these are $189, for slipcover and insert, and there is a $10 delivery surcharge.

Fatboy: I found this one when I was looking for a picture of a bean bag to go with this post (yes, that’s it at the top)…wow, I love the shape and that it’s organic denim…but the price is $429. Ouch.

Hi… If you are interested in the Fatboy, they regularly are on offer at, for a substantial discount. But they sell out quickly, and I’m not sure if the denim ever makes it to the discount site. Good luck!

We have a red one from pottery barn. It is a nice size (my son is 10 and it fits him well) and has held up well. Ours is about 4 years old. I think denim is a great idea. Ours also has his name on it but now he is older I wish it did not. Great gift idea for the hard to buy for preteen.

Fatboy comes in a junior size. They don’t make it in denim, but they have some nice color choices. And at $159 the price might be right.

We have a LIME fatboy that we are selling on craigslist, if you are interested.

I did a bit of research on these last year. The Land of Nod larger size seems like a great choice; known vendor, easy shipping, reasonable. You may want to look at Restoration Hardware Baby and Child too, they have cool stuff and not all of it requires a trust fund.

  6. Hello! First, thanks for mentioning us! Just wanted to let you know that our prices also include shipping (aka free shipping). We’ve been around since 1998, and have thousands of happy customers, so you don’t necessarily have to go to a BIG brand like PB or Restoration. I don’t think they even have a warranty, never mind a 10 year one like us!

We also make our own bean bags ourselves unlike most companies (they just resell bean bags from China or elsewhere overseas). We’re based out of Virginia, USA.

Also, in addition to remove and wash covers, all of our bean bags have our EXCLUSIVE liner, you can’t get it anywhere else :) They are super duper strong and water-repellent, so you won’t have to worry about leaking filling (ugh!) or gross liners. Most bean bags use really thin liners, which can break and aren’t very nice! Our liners also have child-resistant zippers so curious kids can’t get into the filling willy-nilly.

Here’s our specials page for sales and promos:

Please let me know of you have any questions about our products or our company – you can email me directly at :)

    Thanks again!!

An interesting discussion is worth comment. I think that you ought to write more about this issue,
it might not be a taboo matter but generally people don’t talk about such subjects.
    To the next! Many thanks!!
