At Home

I never get time to wander around and shop, no rush, no agenda. Yesterday I found myself in the city (NYC is “the city” when you live in Brooklyn)…in this very scenario. I wandered into Marimekko, and thought, this is the perfect Mother’s Day gift spot. The store is filled with happy colored stuff that you kind of need, but wouldn’t buy yourself. Like a happy oven mitt. Or a travel pouch (they call it a cosmetic bag–but since it is coated on the inside I say it’s perfect for travel!). Or hand towels in Bev Hills Hotel pink/green color combo. I’m hoping for the robe (which isn’t cheap but considering I wear my one robe more than I wear any of my other clothes…could possibly be justified?!!) …but I will also be happy with any number of the paper napkins…which mean I can have bright graphic color napkins without having to go to Ikea!

Yolanda – you should check out the line Marimekko just did for Target. Home goods and some clothing – but nothing as nice as that robe!
